HOW TO USE FARO

How to use Faro

Updated 13 October 2026.

Faro holds you to your own calendar. You put your day on the calendar. Faro speaks up before and after each event, asks whether you finished, and keeps a streak for every goal. This page shows what to tap, screen by screen.

1

First-time setup

  1. Open Faro. On an iPhone, install it from TestFlight. In a browser, go to stayfaro.app/app.
  2. Choose how to sign in:
    • Continue with Google connects your calendar at once. Finish the Google screens within five minutes, and allow Faro to see and change your calendar and tasks. Faro only changes something when you tap Save or Delete.
    • Continue with Apple (iPhone) signs you in with Face ID. No Google account needed.
    • Continue with email: type your address, tap Send me a code, then type the code from the email. No password. Not there? Look in Junk.
Signed in with Apple or email, you can connect Google Calendar any time: the Connect Google Calendar card on Today, or Settings → Account. Until then everything except the calendar reminders works.
  3. The anchor. Enter your Day 1 (the date the journey starts), the total days (810), and a name for the destination.
  4. Where you are. Enter where your day starts (home) and your office. Faro uses them to tell you when to leave, with live traffic.
  5. The sleep contract. Enter when wind-down starts, lights out by, and your wake-up time.
  6. Tap Light the lamp. When the phone asks about notifications, tap Allow.

In a browser: open Settings (the ⚙ at the top right of Today) and turn on Browser notifications. Reminders then reach you even with the tab closed.

The four tabs and the + button

The gold + is on every tab. Tap it, type whatever is on your mind, and it is captured. You decide what it becomes later, in Clarify. Nothing is lost.

3

Today, from the top

  1. The chapter bar. Day X of 810, the chapter you are in, and when the calendar was last synced. Pull down to sync now.
  2. NOW. The block you are in and the minutes left, or what comes next, or what today added up to.
  3. Wake-up and Bedtime rows. Tap each one when it is done. Wake-up counts until 45 minutes after the alarm. Bedtime counts from three hours before wind-down until lights out. Each has its own streak.
  4. AWAITING YOUR ANSWER. An event ended and Faro asked Did you finish? Tap Yes, Partial or No. You have ten minutes. After that it counts as a miss. You can change an answer for two minutes after giving it.
  5. TODAY'S PRIORITIES. The day as a ranked list, A, B and C. See section 8.
  6. NEXT UP. The rest of today's events. Tap one to open it. Tap its gear to change the category, mute it, send it to your VA, or edit, move or delete it. + Event opens Google Calendar's own new-event screen with the next half hour filled in; save it there, and Faro shows it the moment you come back.
  7. Take today off. Nothing is asked of you today. Answers already given stand. The sleep contract still counts. An all-day event called Day off or Vacation on your calendar does the same.

What Faro says, and when

Faro speaks, and the banner shows the details. It works with the app closed.

With the app open, a card shows the meeting's time, place and who is coming while Faro speaks. Inside your silent hours the banner comes without the voice. Wind-down and wake-up always speak. Each goal can have its own lead time before the start, from 5 to 60 minutes.

Phone on silent, in a meeting. Faro still speaks, like an alarm clock: with Speak through silent mode on in Settings, it stays awake quietly in the background and says each reminder at its moment through the ringer switch. Just do not swipe Faro away in the app switcher; opening it again restores this. The short chime a notification plays is muted on silent, as all notifications are.

Goals and routines

  1. GOALS tab → + (or Create your first goal).
  2. Give it a name, pick one of the seven areas of life, and write your definition of enough: the number that means the goal is met.
  3. ROUTINE. Add the tasks that make the goal happen, each with a start and an end time. Choose the weekdays, or leave it as a one-off. Tap Add to calendar and each task becomes its own event in Google Calendar (a weekly series when days are chosen), in the goal's colour, so you can see at a glance which goal each block serves. From then on Faro reminds you, asks whether you finished, and the streak counts it.
  4. Where it happens: At home, At the office, or Flexible. For a goal's events with no place on the calendar, Faro times the drive to your home or office address from wherever your previous appointment was, and tells you when to leave. Flexible uses each meeting's own place on the calendar. A place on the calendar always wins.
  5. Name who holds you to it, add a reward ladder and a consequence ladder, and set the reminder lead in minutes.
  6. Tap Save.

Faro files calendar events under goals by their title. If one lands in the wrong place, open the event, tap its gear, and tap the right category. Faro learns the title for next time.

Capture, Clarify, Matrix

  1. Tap +, type the thought, done. Do this all day; it takes two seconds.
  2. REVIEW tab → Clarify. Faro reminds you at 09:30. For each thought it asks Where does it sit?
    • Do today — urgent and important. Goes on today's calendar.
    • Schedule — important, not urgent. Faro proposes a time next weekday.
    • Delegate — urgent, not important. A one-line handoff opens, ready to send to your VA.
    • Drop — neither. Gone, but visible in the Matrix for thirty days.
    • Or Someday / maybe and Reference, when it is not a task at all.
  3. For Do today and Schedule, pick which goal it serves, then Put it on the calendar (you save the event) or Make it a task (a Google task with a day, no time).
  4. REVIEW → Open the Matrix shows all four boxes. Tap an item to finish it, act on it, or move it. More than eight in one box is Faro's sign that the plan has stopped being real.
  5. Spending that Faro could not file shows up in Clarify too. Tap the area of life that paid for it.

8

Priorities A, B, C

On Today, the day is ranked:

The ring at the left shows the outcome: a green tick, a half, a red cross, or a gold question mark when Faro is waiting for your answer. Tap the ring to tick off a matrix item or a task. Tap the title to open it. At 09:30 the Clarify reminder reads the A list to you.

9

Money

  1. MONEY tab → + Upload a statement. Download a CSV from your online banking first. PDF is not supported.
  2. Tap each uncategorized transaction and pick the area of life that paid for it. Faro learns the merchant.
  3. Read the screen: the six-month trend (tap a month), the runway (enter your cash on hand), spending by category, income by source, recurring commitments, and the subscriptions Faro found in your statements.
  4. + New savings goal for a trip, a home, a car, or anything else. Record deposits as you make them.
  5. Export for your accountant gives a CSV of any range. The search box looks through every month.
